About the facilitators
Gem Tan
Gem's passion for doulaโing was rooted in my childhood. She was raised by strong women and gentle men. Mothers were, and are, the shoulders upon which she gratefully stands on. Her undergrad and post-grad research work with feminist, fertility and childbirth anthropologists, as well with birthing families themselves. She strives to deliver evidence-based and heart-centred information that can be of service to birthing couples.
Alexia Tan
Alexia (she/her) was inspired to become a doula herself after experiencing doula support for the birth of her twins and during the postpartum period. She is a certified Birth and Postpartum doula (iBirthProfessionalsยฎ๏ธ) and in Optimal Maternal Positioningยฎ๏ธ . She is also further trained in Pelvic Floor Fascia and Biomechanics in the Franklin Method. She is passionate about helping couples understand and figure out the best way to navigate their unique birth journey that suits them the most. By working closely with both birther and birth partner, she endeavours to create the best possible birth and postpartum experience for the family.
