We understand that sometimes even the general basic classes can be daunting for those who are new, rusty or injured! This Yoga Foundations course seeks to equip you with a solid understanding of applied anatomy and physiology, so that you can move into postures safely and confidently. With a in-depth understanding of posture mechanics, you will be given the tools to adapt the practice to your anatomy and needs, so that you can fully enjoy your practice! In this light, expect to explore adaptations that will reframe your understanding of yoga as an embodied practice of moving and breathing. โฃ โฃ โฃ

Day 1: Standing Posturesโฃ โฃ
Build strength and stability in the major muscle groups of the body such as the legs and core, and explore the sense of rooting or grounding through the legs.โฃ โฃ โฃ
Day 2: Forward Folds and Backbendsโฃ โฃ
Forward folds build flexibility along the backline of the body such as hamstrings and lower back, which in turn encourage mobility in the hips and pelvis. Backbends build flexibility in the upper body, build strength in the muscles of the back, legs and shoulders, and learn to move into backbends with awareness, support and spaciousness along the spine.โฃ โฃ โฃ
Day 3: Twists and Balancing Posturesโฃ โฃ
Twists are another way to build flexibility and spaciousness along the spine, help create space in the torso and have detoxifying qualities. Balancing postures, similar to standing postures, help to build strength in the major muscle groups of the body and expands on the exploration of rooting or grounding.โฃ โฃ
Day 4: Weaving it all togetherโฃ โฃ
We will end the course with a recap of what was introduced as well as an integration of all the concepts learnt into a full practice.โฃ โฃ
